Difference between direct channel tuning and satfinder tuning ?

On Octagon 4008 I've noticed a curious and strange thing.

On Hispasat 30 W there are 4 frequencies which carry IP radios, 2 spanish and 2 portuguese ones.
Well, on Octagon 4008 I have problems receiving 2 of them, and on Octagon 8008 they're all ok.
I have created the lamedb entries, and fake channels.
Transponder values are written avoiding AUTO values, the ones provided by a TBS-EBSPro on Desktop Computer:
    12518 Vert. - SR 705 - DVB-S2 - QPSK - 3/4 - 0.20 - pilot OFF - Spectr Inv. ON

    Code:
    0ce430e6:0001:0001
        s 12518000:705000:1:3:-300:1:0:1:1:2:0
    /

    Code:
    03e9:0ce430e6:0001:0001:2:0:0
    SAPO PID1001
    p:SAPO,c:0203e9,c:1503e9,f:5
    ....and what's the problem ???

If I tune to SAPO PID1001 channel, I get a Tune Failed ! screen.

I go into satfinder Menu, I change "Predefined transponder" to "User defined Transponder", and then the values for the selected channel appear correctly.
And surprisingly SNR bar appears and channel locks.

So, does anybody know if there is any difference between direct channel tuning and satfinder tuning

Noticed this too. I think, it's a problem with the driver of the SF4008.

    Re: drivers bugs ?

On my beach house, the old sat receiver broke up, and I've got a new OsMio 4k+ box.
    I've noticed this problem too.....
Fake channels that work on other boxes, doesn't on this one,. but if I do a satfinder manual parameter entry, it finds signal and locks it.
None of these Hispasat signals can be received.

    Code:
    0ce430e6:0001:0001
        s 12518000:704000:1:3:-300:1:0:1:1:2:0

Could anybody tell edision this problem ??

Don't sweat it, the tuner driver struggles like hell with SRs lower than 1000. In fact I have never seen anything locking below SR 940, at least in a sensible timing for services to be tuned...
It has been addressed many times with Edision, the Availink tuner as amazing as it is auto finding MIS and everything else, is a no go for low SR and instant signal locking. Just compare zapping between i.e. HD51 and Osmio...

Re: Difference between direct channel tuning and satfinder tuning ?

But the tuner works wth SR below 1000.

The problem is that when entering parameters manually, it gets (and locks) signal, but when trying to do it from settings, it doesn't.

You select one channel from channel list, there is no signal................

You open satfinder, and change to user defined transponder, and then you have the tuning details from this "suposed dead channel".
..... and in a few second, signal appears....................

Re: Difference between direct channel tuning and satfinder tuning ?

But that's the problem, the few seconds (what I refer as "sensible time"). The tuner resets when a new call is made on the same frequency (when for instance you press OK to scan from the satfinder) and because the lock is not instant the signal will timeout, which makes tuning in low SRs very problematic. It has been addressed several times already, Edision is aware of these issues, but it looks like it's more of a hardware than a software/driver problem.

SR704 is even more difficult (well, impossible, since it takes more than 3 minutes to lock).

I think I've seen those "resets" you refer to........

I have "Infobar frontend data source" set as "Tuner".

If I look at infobar on one of these channels that don't lock, data is countinously changing each second..........
    Modulation changes to 32APSK, QPSK, 8PSK.... and FEC to 8/9, 2/3, 1/2.......

Απ: Difference between direct channel tuning and satfinder tuning ?

Guys everything that's below 1000 SR is not officially supported by the tuner specification!

This behavior is visible on TP using SR greater than 1000?
