Demodulators


Each of the Si21692/682-D dual demodulators integrate two separate high-performance single demodulators in a compact 8 x 8 mm QFN package. The Si21692/682-D support DVB-T2/S2X/S2/T/C/S and DVB-T2/T/C, respectively. Leveraging Silicon Labs' proven digital demodulation architecture, each embedded demodulator achieves excellent reception performance for each media while significantly minimizing front-end design complexity and cost. Connecting the Si21692/682-D to both a dual terrestrial/cable TV tuner, and a dual satellite tuner, results in a high-performance and cost optimized dual-channel TV or STB front-end solution.

Silicon Labs’ internally-developed DVB-T2 (including T2-Lite) demodulators support all modes specified by the DVB-T2 standard (V1.3.1). Main features of the DVB-T2 mode are, SISO and MISO support, FEF management, fully autonomous signal acquisition including automatic L1 signaling parsing support for all pilot patterns, and DVB-T2/T auto-detection. The DVB-T and DVB-C demodulators are enhanced versions of proven and broadly used Si2167/68/69 Silicon Labs devices. The satellite demodulation -- # وصلة ممنوعة 1778 # --ality allows demodulating widespread DVB-S, DIRECTV™ (DSS), DVB-S2 and DIRECTV™ (AMC) legacy standards, as well as new Part II of DVB-S2 (S2X) satellite broadcast standard. A zero-IF interface allows for a seamless connection to market proven satellite silicon tuners.

The Si216x2 offers an on-chip blind scanning algorithm for DVB-S2X/S2/S and DVB-C standards (as well as blind lock). It also integrates two DiSEqC™ 2.0 LNB interfaces for satellite dish control and, for each satellite demodulator, an equalizer to compensate for echoes in long cable feeds from the LNB to the satellite tuner RF input.

The Si216x2 embeds two independent programmable transport stream interfaces which provide a flexible range of output modes, including a TS cross-bar -- # وصلة ممنوعة 1778 # --ality, and are fully compatible with all MPEG decoders or conditional access modules to support any customer application.

All in One: Triple-Tuner mit DVB-S2X und DVB-T2/C

Nachdem der neue DVB-T2/C-Tuner erst kürzlich veröffentlicht wurde, hat Dream nun nachgezogen: Ein Triple-Tuner, der DVB-S2X, DVB-T2 und DVB-C in Einem unterstützt!

Erweiterbarkeit durch Tuner
Eines der praktischen Features von Dreamboxen ist, dass diese in der Regel durch Tuner einfach nach- bzw. auf neue Empfangswege umgerüstet werden können. Dies ist besonders dann wichtig, wenn neue Standards für den Empfang von Fernsehen auch neue Hardware voraussetzen, wie es beispielsweise bei der flächendeckenden Einführung von DVB-T2 geschehen ist.
Zudem können durch die neuerliche Entwicklung von Dual- bzw. Twin-Tunern auch vormals Single-Tuner-Dreamboxen nun auch in Dual-Tuner-Receiver nachgerüstet werden, was besonders für Besitzer von DM820, DM900 und DM7080 interessant sein dürfte.

Der neue Triple-Tuner

Mit dem neuen Triple-Tuner geht Dream bei der nachträglichen Erweiterbarkeit noch einen Schritt weiter: Der neue Triple-Tuner beinhaltet gleich drei Tuner in einem. Da selbst bei drei Tunern nur ein Steckplatz in der Dreambox belegt wird, eignet sich dieser Tuner hervorragend für die DM900 UHD oder DM820. Doch auch die DM7080 kann von dem neuen Tuner profitieren. Wie bei der Einführung des DVB-T2 oder dualen DVB-S2-Tuners erwarte ich, dass auch dieser mit allen Dreamboxen kompatibel sein wird, für die es auch das neuste DreamOS auf Basis des OE 2.5 gibt. Dies ist Voraussetzung für die Auslieferung der benötigten Tuner-Treiber.
DVB-S2X, DVB-T2 und DVB-C

Der neue Triple-Tuner wird alle wichtigen und neuen Formate unterstützen. Dazu zählen DVB-S2X, DVB-T2 und DVB-C. Wie auf dem Bild sichtbar ist, gibt es zwei Satelliteneingänge und ein Koaxialeingang für DVB-T2 oder DVB-C. Nach dem Bericht von Digitalfernsehen kann der Tuner immer zwei Empfangswege gleichzeitig dekodieren: Entweder 2x DVB-S2X oder DVB-S2X und DVB-T2/C.
Dual-DVB-S2X
Der Triple-Tuner ist der erste Dreambox-kompatible Tuner, der den neuen DVB-Standard S2X für den Satellitenempfang unterstützt. DVB-S2X wurde erst 2014 eingeführt und verspricht eine verbesserte Effizienz von ca. 50 %. Zudem verspricht der Standard auch bessere Bitraten vor allem beim Senden von ultra-hochauflösendem Fernsehen, in dem mehrere Kanäle gebündelt werden können.
Da DVB-S2X nicht abwärtskompatibel ist, wird man mit diesem Triple-Tuner für die Zukunft gut gewappnet sein und spart sich mögliche zukünftige Tuner-Upgrades. Vor allem für Benutzer der DM900 UHD sollte dieser Tuner interessant sein, falls bei der Übertragung von UHD-Sendern tatsächlich auf DVB-S2X umgestellt wird.

DVB-T2 und DVB-C über ein Verteiler

Der neue Triple-Tuner verfügt über einen Koaxialeingang, der wahlweise für DVB-T2 oder DVB-C genutzt werden kann. Jedoch kann mit ein wenig Tricksen der Eingang für beide Übertragungswege gleichzeitig genutzt werden. Hierzu wird, wie auch beim vor Kurzem vorgestellten DVB-T2/C-Tuner, lediglich ein 5V-Umschalter benötigt. DreamOS kann dann, je nach dem auf welchen Sender geschaltet wird, automatisch zwischen DVB-T2 und DVB-C wechseln.
Verfügbarkeit im Fachhandel
Noch gibt es den Triple-Tuner nicht zu kaufen. Jedoch wurde dieser für Ende April für einen Preis von 99 Euro angekündigt und sollte daher schon in wenigen Tagen bzw. Wochen im Fachhandel verfügbar sein. Sobald der Tuner ausgeliefert wird, werde ich zu gegebener Zeit einen ausführlichen Erfahrungsbericht hier im Dreambox-Blog veröffentlichen.

But most common 4:4:2 in feeds (eg NBA feeds).

So 4:4:2 playable via VLC.. nothing new here.

Anyway we learn something new, that the long waiting tuner, doesn't support MIS.
